I am really worried I am going to get my admissions to UCLA and Cal rescinded. I have a 3.95 GPA but this semester has been really difficult with my family, and I was only able to take on 2 classes. One of them is a justice studies class for fun, the other is general chemistry II. It looks like I am going to get a C in chemistry (my first one, obviously) but I know that the contract for admission to the UCs says you have to have a 3.0 GPA. This would put me at a 2.75. Am I in trouble here?!? (I have many scholarships and awards within my major (geology) and i have also volunteered in the subject.) Thank you so much!

You’ll probably be fine with UCLA, but Berkeley is a lot more anal about maintaining a 3.0 semester GPA.

Still, both schools will definitely try to work with you and don’t want to rescind your admission. One C grade shouldn’t cause your admission to be rescinded if you can explain to those schools that you’ve been having some trouble at home. I think you’ll be fine.

For UCLA, go to the Report Academic Changes to notify them, so they get prior notice.
For UCB, contact your Admissions Officer through MyBerkeleyApp.

Both schools are understanding, but UCLA is normally more understanding.

Both schools are very understanding, but you should notifiy them ASAP
