Being White in UCI

ok bball- dont assume anything!

the majority of my friends are different races than myself. i was just asking a question to see if i would feel uncomfortable since i had heard that a large portion of the asian students keep to their race when it comes to friendships.

now, i have heard from many current students and can see that it is not true and that i will have friends of ALL races and ethnicities and be very happy at UCI.

thats not what you guys were discussing above… my point is it should not matter how comfortable you feel around certain ethnicities because everyone should be the same. i find it extremely arogant to limit comfortability based on race or groups of race (i.e. the asians who keep to themselves)

everyone is the same. if you knew me, you would know i have asians, mexicans and whole list of other races in my family so obviously i have grown up around different races and feel comfortable.

what i mainly meant by wanting know if being white in uci would make me a minority, i was hoping to see how many white guys there would be, because im mainly attracted to white guys and im not ashamed to say that, and im not arogant to say or feel that.

^
If you want to go to school with a large White population, maybe you shouldn’t attend a UC. UC’s are mostly dominated by Asian population.

And you contradicted yourself. You are telling bball not to assume anything, but you yourself are assuming that asian students keep to themselves

"okay way to generalize!

theres always good and bad to every group…we dont need to get mean about it.

im white but i dont try and go around acting “hard” when i walk around

ok bball- dont assume anything!

the majority of my friends are different races than myself. i was just asking a question to see if i would feel uncomfortable since i had heard that a large portion of the asian students keep to their race when it comes to friendships."

ohhhhhhhhh ok… now that makes more sense! why didn’t you just say that in the first place. i can concur with your attraction to a certain look, because i too am more attracted to CERTAIN white girls so in that case i can relate

When I visited UCI there was a lot of whites there. The majority is Asian but I saw a good amount of whites.

advice to any african americans considering this university: don’t. Most of the students are close minded and will not accept you if you aren’t asian or white. LAtinos have a better chance, but blacks are treated like pure crap at UCI. I would know.

If I am half white and half mexican, but I look part asian. Will I still be able to make friends with asian people as well with other races, because I saw that most asian people like to stay friends with asian people.
I know this may sound superficial, but would people who look more attractive or better have a better chance of making friends?

I’m Indian (as in Asian-Indian), so how’s my outlook on that? I’d probably fall in the computer geek/nerd scene.

.__.

Guys, stop worrying about how your race or how you look affects relationships. And if these factors do determine certain relationships, then those relationships are not WORTH HAVING in the first place!

I know it may be hard, but just try to enter college with an open-mind and be yourself and stop worrying about how you look or if you’ll fit in, because college is not high school. now is the chance to build true relationships with people who will be your friends for who you are, not where you’re from or how you look

in my experience, YES dramatically. This applies in all aspects of life. Since i started working out and got into a lot better shape, I notice that people treat me MUCH MUCH better(and I don’t deserve it)

do what you can with what you have, let go of what you don’t and just be happy.
