**Belk Hopefuls!**

hahaha nice one amplifiar!

and i mean that all in good fun, to any Bush supporters in this forum

^ Apparently we're also the only state that could secede from the Union and still be fine economically. We've got way more oil than all of you, bi+ches! haha

It's February.
Does anybody know the timetable of when they notify the people who made the cut?

Also, do they notify those who didn't make it, or do we wait for someone on CC to proudly exclaim they made the cut for us to realize that we didn't?

Good luck to all.

yeah - good luck to everyone. haha i was never confident i'd get it, but hearing about the huge increase in apps makes this an almost undoubtable no in my head (for me). I hope they at least send the people who don't make it a concise email!

I think they notify at end of February, not sure how and who.

Any word from anybody? Yea or Nay

nay. here's the belk timeline....

"Late February - Semi-finalist phone interviews
60–65 semi-finalists will be selected and interviewed by telephone

Early March - Finalists are identified

March 27-29 - Belk Scholars Celebration
Finalists will attend classes, meet with faculty and students, and participate in selection activities, including interviews conducted by a committee comprised of members of the Belk family, Davidson faculty and administration, and current Belk Scholars and alumni

April 5 - Winners are contacted
All finalists not named Belk Scholars will be named Chambers Scholars, thus identifying them a"

PS... I was surprised to hear that apps increased by only about 1%, I thought I had heard that it was much more than that. I guess that makes selection a lot less competitive!

PPS... is there a scholarship for chambers scholars? :)

"The (chamber) awards are offered at different levels, based upon the strength of the candidate's application, their finalist interview, and the impression made during their time on campus." === quote from Head of Scholarship committee in an email.

So I'm guessing 15,000-30,000 dollars a year.

has anyone heard anything?

i came stumbling across this thread and I have a few questions:

are intl students (living overseas) considered for this belk scholarship?

you don't have to apply separately for a scholarship for Davidson, right?

Thaaanks!

Some of the scholarships you don't have to apply for -- automatic entrance of all students. Others you have to.

yeah, two or three you have to submit an app for. like the Belk is a special application. its on the site...

Letter received in today's mail 700 nominees this year, didn't make cut. Letter dated 2/19/09

^ AHHHH!!!! Nervous!!! I didn't get anything, so I'm freaking out because I have to wait until Monday ;(
haha

GAWD. Now I'm nervous.

haha if we don't get something by tuesday, i'd say its safe to say that we didnt get it. lol i won't be expecting it... so i guess it will just make it that much better if i get one :)

Too true. crosses fingers

SCMom,
What did the letter say.... did it give a time for the phone interview? Who would the interview be with? How long would it be???

I think she was saying that there were 700 nominees this year, and she didnt make the cut

I got the same letter, not a semi
