Im looking at Belmont because I like nashville. I also like sports so does Belmont have school spirit and a lot of sports fans? I'm also not musically talented so is it all musical like it seems to be? finally, do you like the size? I don't know if 6000 people feels really small or it's not really noticeable

Belmont has a lot of school spirit around basketball. The music program is excellent. It is a wonderful school but make sure you are OK with the conservative, religious culture.

About 34% of students major in the visual & performing arts. Another 16% major in business/marketing. Next come “health professions and related sciences” at ~13%. Every other major accounts for 5% of students or less.

The place seems to have developed a niche in training Christian country music business managers. So the focus is not all on the artistic talent side.

I’m interested in biology, so how big is that program? Also, are there things to do on campus like flag football or pickup basketball?

2.9% of recent Belmont graduates majored in biological/life sciences, compared to 15.1% at nearby Rhodes College. Belmont’s department has 7 faculty members. For comparison, the biology department at Rhodes (a college with less than 1900 students) has 12 faculty members. The ratio of faculty to students is roughly the same at the two schools but Belmont’s department is relatively small. Belmont also has a much smaller endowment (~$74M v. $283M for the much smaller Rhodes). You might want to investigate the quality of labs and equipment, and (since it is a Christian School) their approach to teaching the theory of evolution.

Rhodes isn’t exactly “nearby”. It’s 3 hours away! Vanderbilt, on the other hand, basically touches Belmont.

^ Good catch. I forgot, Rhodes is in Memphis not in Nashville.

I also need a job afterwards, so is Belmont recognizable nationally?
