Hi, I'm a high school sophomore and I know I want to do something related to computers and technology in the future. What are the benefits of having MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) certification? Would it make my college apps stand out? Thanks a lot!

Do colleges have a particular need to admit freshmen who are Microsoft Office Specialists? If not, then the certification won’t stand out particularly. It’s an accomplishment–and it’s not a bad one either–but I don’t think it would cause you to leapfrog over the competition.

My Business/IT teacher always says that if I get 3 certifications, I can knock out a whole computer course in college. I was wondering if that was true.

No clue, sorry.

But even if it is, that’s quite a different matter from whether it’s advantageous in admissions. I thought that was what you were asking.
