I am thinking of applying to Hotchkiss, Berkshire, Deerfield, and others. I am a current sophomore at a public high school. I just recently had an interview at Hotchkiss, and I think it went very well! But the Admissions Officer did give the idea of repeating my sophomore year. I am one of the smartest and hardest working kids in my grade, but I don't know if that would be enough for me to be at the same level as other kids who have been at the school for all four years. I need financial aid and all of these schools admit more sophomores than juniors, hence there is higher acceptance rate for sophomores. Also socially would it be harder to make friends as a junior when cliques and friends have already been together for 2 years?

Would it be wise for me to repeat my sophomore year, or enter as a junior?
