Hi, so I got the Regents Scholarship for UCLA yesterday, and it says that it will cover the costs of my needs, including housing & meals, books, etc. It already lists out an estimate of what it will give me to cover the cost. However, does that mean that I am limited to the amount that the scholarship gives me, or will the Regents scholarship amount expand to cover the costs in case I actually spend more on books or other costs than it predicted?

No, it’ll be a fixed amount - what UCLA estimates your costs should be. If you spend more, that’s on you. From what I’ve seen, though, UCLA is quite generous.

Alright, thanks! Also, if I get other scholarships, will Regents deduct that from the amount that they’re giving me? For example, right now the Regents Scholarship is paying $13,000 per year to cover the costs of my tuition that is not already covered by the government grants. If I get a scholarship that pays me $2,000 per year, will the Regents Scholarship reduce the amount that I receive to $11,000 per year? It says that it will cover the rest of my financial needs, but I don’t know if it includes the other scholarships that I applied for. :O

Don’t know - sorry! Time to contact the UCLA financial aid office . . . I’m sure they’ll be happy to help you. :)

Okay, thank you
