Benefits? submitting early SIR/housing app

<p>Are there any benefits to submitting an earlier SIR and housing application at Cal and UCLA? Does it increase your likelihood of getting the housing that you want? </p>

<p>I'm having trouble choosing a school, I was thinking of submitting an SIR/housing app to one and then forfeiting the hundred dollars if I change my mind.</p>

<p>I don’t think there is a benefit because they use a lottery system anyway. And yes, you can submit your SIR for one, but if you change your mind you just lose the $100.</p>
