Berkeley Chances

Hi All,

UCB is the school that is at the top of my list. It is definitely a target school and I will have to put in a lot of effort.
I just wanted to know whether I even have a chance with the following stats:

Major: Electrical Engineering/ Comp Sci
GPA: 3.92 UW, 4.59 W (10-11)
SAT: 2140 (780 M, 720 W, 640 CR)
ACT: 33
I have been on Varsity Swim 4 yrs, President of the Autism Awareness Association, AP Scholar, leadership counsel for a non profit.
I have also attended a few engineering programs including a very selective one at the University of Michigan.
I am in state.

Thanks!

The competitiveness of UCB engineering/comp sci will make it tough with your GPA and test scores. There are just too many 4.0’s and high scoring SAT/ACT students. Apply widely in California.

Your GPA is definitely there, but you should try and get your standardized testing scores up. UCs accept any sort of SAT or ACT scores that are taken prior to January (meaning they still take December tests even though the application process closes in November; you just have to go back and change it in your app). I think if you’re able to get your ACT to a 34/35 you should be set! Good luck!

Your chances will be better if you apply to CS under L&S.
