Many have the impression that stanford engineering is a cakewalk compared to berkeley engineering. Does anyone have any input about the truth of this assertion? Can anyone explain why, if that's true, USNews puts Stanford above Berkeley in EE/CS/ME/overall in undergraduate engineering?

this is for best undergraduate engineering programs (with doctoral programs)

and I have heard nothing about stanford's engineering being a cakewalk

yeah, but I'm not going to appeal to authority on this one. I don't entirely believe those rankings. I've heard this comment from MANY people; in fact it's a pretty common opinion around here (bay area, california).

"Difficulty" is also determined by the caliber of the student. Overall, stanford takes the lead here.

I don't know about that. A bunch of kids in Cal EECS with Regents will take that over Stanford and other top schools because it's really cheap and a really good education. I might end up being one of them.

I still want to hear some comments from someone who goes to Cal or Stanford.

I'm an EE grad student at Stanford, and the undergrad EE classes are a cakewalk compared to UIUC, where I did my undergrad. My MIT and Berkeley friends also agree with me. The grad classes are an entirely different matter.

What about CS? Is it the same story? I talked with some EE student at stanford, and even a prof at stanford, and both agreed that EE is probably easier than berkeley.

What about ME?
