Hi guys, for fall 2011 I have been accepted to Berkeley from a CCC. It has been a long time coming I have finally made it! But I have run into a problem. It says on the website that if I do not receive a 3.0 this semester then I might get my application rescinded from Berkeley. Everything else is fine, IGETC done, I will have all the other requirements filled but I only took two classes this semester, Calculus 3 (Multivariable Calculus) and Physics 66 (Physics for Life Science Majors). I know I got a C in calc, and I know I will get atleast a B in physics 66, but I might not get an A. If I do not get a 3.0 what are the chances of my acceptance being terminated? I do not need calc 3 for my major. My major is environmental science. Thank you for your help.

AHHHHHHHh you should ask your Admissions Officer like NOWNOWNOWNOW.

i have not received my Physics 66 grade yet, this is why I have not contacted them.

Yeesh, well maybe somebody else knows on here. I still think you should tell your AO what’s going on and toss him or her a hypothetical worst case scenario…

yeah I will see. The worst case scenario is me getting a 2.5, which is a C in calc 3 and B in physics 66. Best case is 3.0, C in calc 3 and A in physics 66. Calc 3 is not part of my major requirements so if I do get a 2.5, I hope that will help sway the vote against rejecting me. Anyone have any ideas of the chances of getting my acceptance rescinded?

I had specific conditions from Cal, and they said if I didn’t fulfill them exactly that I would definitely be rescinded and that I should SIR somewhere else. Just my personal circumstance…

I’m sorry dude but I think you would definitely get rescinded if you get below a 3.0 since Calc III is still considered a UC transferable course. I was in this same situation a month ago and I talked to my admissions officer. She said that I need at least a 3.0 and even restated it at the bottom of my Conditions of Admissions and highlighted it. This made me study so hard for the finals and fortunately was able to fix it…I heard that you can get away from it though if you have a valid excuse for the drop in grades.

Someone in my family did pass away close to finals time, but I would hate to use that as an excuse…it seems unreasonable?

Also Calc 3 isnt part of my requirements for environmental science doesn’t that count? I have heard people who haven’t taken a class or have done some type of screw up and have gotten in. There is no chance to get in if I get a 2.5?

sorry for the double post, but if I were to tell them how one of my family members passed away…how would I go about doing so? I hate using it as an excuse but I do not want to get my application rescinded from Cal…

The Admissions committee at any college or university has heard so many appeals based on a death in the family that, unless the circumstances were particularly traumatizing and tragic, they are probably unlikely to be persuaded that the appeal should be approved.
