“does anyone know by chance how many students receive that email and how many students are awarded the scholarship after the interview process?”

We just got the Regents’ packet in the mail. It says 2000 applicants are chosen and 200 scholarships are awarded.

I am guessing they award around 400-600, because not all who get the regents scholarship will attend berkeley

I got my packet two days ago and I am heading up in two weeks for my interview! Super excited because Berkeley with their bioengineering coupled with their pre-med makes them my number 1 choice and this would make the price right!

What do you think it was that made them choose you? Did they tell you that you had a great essay or did you get like really high SAT scores and GPA? im trying to get a feel for what it takes to be considered as a candidate.

Regents winners are the cream of the crop. They are the top 1% of Cal’s already selective applicant pool. So in response to your questions, you need most, if not all, of what you listed. Excellent SAT’s (I and Subjects), a history of commitment and depth in extracurriculars, and a unique and maybe memorable essay.
Thanks, I heard they were the top 2% so that a little bit better I guess
