Berkeley vs. George Washington University ??????????

I was recently admitted to both Berkeley and GW. I really like them both and am so excited! Berkeley, is totally me. I am in love with the campus, the people, the vibe. They have an incredible engineering program and it is very well-known. However, I am an OOS prospect and tuition is +50,000...that being said, money isn't a total deal breaker, but Berkeley going through major budget cuts, and it being a large public institution, I probably won't get all my classes I want, let alone graduate in 4 years

GW on the other hand, is a totally different feel. It is an urban campus, less selective, private, smaller, very political (it is in DC), and not as great of a fit in that way. I would describe myself as MUCH more of a Berkeley student...
BUT GW offered me a $120,000 scholarship, is much cheaper, no budget cuts, and DC is home to possibly some of the best internship opportunities in the country.

My only issue is that I am not sure that I can see myself at GW...although there is always grad school for berkeley...any advice???

Thanks so much!!!!!!!

If you or your parents can afford Berkeley’s tuition, then there’s no doubt that it is the obvious superior choice.

The budget cuts are over and they did not impact undergrad classes. You’ll graduate in 4 years. Less if you have a lot of AP credits.

thank you so much for your responses! This make me feel better about choosing Berkeley, even despite GW’s scholarship!
