berkeley vs. notre dame engineering

I am really anxious now as it's heading to the deadline
I am accepted by berkeley engineering undeclared major, which neans i can choose whatever major i want after one semester in berkeley.
and I also have Notre dame, with a little scholarship, so the two are almost equally expensive
actually, i have already submitted the deposit for ND, because i really like the friendly student body, family atmosphere and personal attention, and i think my personality is a good match with ND.but ND's strength is in business, not engineering
but recently i can't help but thinking about berkeley's awsome engineering school, especially the wonderful program i got in. pretty sure i want to major in engineering, but kind of worried about whether i can fit in in berkeley. it is so large that i kind of afraid my life will be a lot more harsh.and i am afriad that berkeley will be too research oriented that undergraduated cannot enjoy its resources
also i want to go to graduate school or even phd
could anyone tell me which school is better when applying to graduate school?
i know berkeley is definitely a better choice for graduates, but what about undergraduates?academically, does these school equal for engineers?
really don't know where i should go......
and can any ND engineers talk about the weight a ND degree carries when applying to engineering graduate school? will it be less competitive than berkeley engineering?

thank you guys!!! really appreciate your help at this point

Both ND and Berkeley have excellent engineering programs and if you do well at either school you will be in fine shape for a job or grad school. It sounds like you picked ND for a reason – that you feel more at ease with the atmosphere here. That is a big deal because people usually do their best when they are happy and comfortable. Gut feeling does play a part in the final college decision and that is OK. You had a situation where you couldn’t make a bad decision. I suggest you stop agonizing about the road not taken and look ahead to a great freshman year. Welcome to ND.

Notre Dame is much more an undergraduate school than Berkeley, and that means as an undergraduate you will have a lot of opportunities to do research. Also, the first two years are structured so that you can explore lots of different areas of engineering before declaring a major. If you feel more comfortable with Notre Dame’s student body, you will be very happy there and succeed. Graduate school is 4 years away - enjoy these next four years, and the future will open up to you!

Berkeley has much stronger engineering AFAIK. ND is better for Business. But don’t decide by major if you aren’t sure what you want to do.

It is also worth noting that Berkeley is perhaps the most liberal campus in the country while Notre Dame might be the most conservative (single sex dorms, parietals, mandatory theology classes, etc.).

There are many other stark differences between the schools as well: West coast culture vs. Midwestern; large Asian population vs. small minority presence; large public vs. mid-sized private.

UCB is the stronger Engineering school and at least as strong as ND in other fields. If you know Eng is way you likely will go, UCB makes more sense. Else, go with fit.
