Berkeley waitlist

They are probably waiting to hear back from the spring admits and will then make a decision based on that

I really hope there will be another wave…

Alright I am calling this a end, it doesn’t seem that there is another wave and most likely Cal has got enough enrollment…I am just going to Wisconsin Madison anyway…best to Berkeley

Don’t give up hope until June 2. This is their first year playing around with a legitimate waitlist, and in the past they’ve been good about closing the waitlist and informing people when it’s over.

But I applied for EECS so, as Muse would put it:

“And I… I lost before I started.”

Don’t lose hope guys!! :)

this wait is ridiculous. didnt think they’d actually make us wait all the way till june 1st :(

I called the admissions office yesterday. They shut down the office for the day and all day today. They will reopen tomorrow at 9:00AM PST. So i guess if there is any movement it will be after that. Hang in there… I wish we had someone on this thread with some insight on whether there is another wave coming.

Ignore previous post, i think the office just opened, no one responding though.

Hmm…“Office closures may be due to all-day trainings or application review. We offer the following options for you if the Office of Undergraduate Admissions is closed.” Seems like they might be reviewing waitlist/appeal decisions right now. I think the vast majority of people that are still on the waitlist applied to Letters and Science, so they could be doing those all at once…Hoping for the best.

I hope that that’s good news for the people who applied to L&S!

There is another person saying that she just got the email offering her to enroll for Fall instead of Spring. I really don’t understand why Berkeley would not admit more from the wait list if there’s any room left. Hopefully there’s another wave tomorrow or Friday for the wait listed people. I am so frustrated.

Berkeley admissions phone line still down…

I hope that’s a good sign!!

Not trying to burst your hopes, guys. I spoke to an admissions person Thursday afternoon. She mentioned “About 35 or so admissions were going out that evening and these will have time till 29th to send in the SIRs. After this they will close the waitlist on 30th”. I think overall about 200-250 students have been admitted from the waitlist from what she said. So it looks like UCB took the IVY route - viz., leaving a lot more good candidates hanging on a waitlist than they really needed. So, if you havent heard from UCB, the chances from now are very bleak. Time to focus completely on the college you are selected to, and give your very best!!

I guess we can start calling them Burkeley now 'cause their admin looks more and more like Stanfurd everyday.

Just kidding. I’m not bitter. Good luck to everyone still waiting; good job to everyone who got in!

Does anybody know when the waitlist is over?

No waves anybody??

It ends on June 2nd at the latest. I haven’t heard of any waves past the most recent one mentioned on this thread.

So, I just called the Berkeley Admissions and they said that they sent out a wave last week to 35 students and they have until end of today to send in their SIR’s. She then also said that based on how many people accepted Berkeley from those 35, they may send out a third wave. She also said that about 1600-1700 people initially accepted Berkeley’s wait list. Looks like we still have a chance!! Good luck guys!

I don’t want to keep my hopes up, but I don’t want to kill them just yet gahhh
