Besides medicine and BME, what is JHU known for?

What are its best and most renowned programs? I never hear much about the school but am looking into it.

Writing Sems, IS, Public Health, Neuroscience, Environmental Engineering

Physics Department is getting pretty hot.

That and also the French and Cognitive Science departments. It’s pretty well rounded.

Oh dear Lord, I guess it isn’t your fault. I’ve asked some whoppers in my day as well. To add to the aforementioned departments, their History & Art History is one of the strongest in the world. Also, I believe Hopkins was the first American institution to start a Classics program. Hopkins is truly fabulous.

Are you saying they didn’t study antiquity until Hopkins came around in 1876? I don’t think so…

Quoted from Hopkins

“Since its foundation in 1876, the Johns Hopkins University’s mission has included both teaching and research. The Department of Classics has always played a leading role in this mission. It was at Johns Hopkins that the first modern Classics department was organized, inspired by the most effective model of scholarship at the time–the German seminar, which combined teaching with research.”

Anyway, Hopkins is pretty underrated when it comes to majors.

Everyone above pretty much said it: IR, Public Health, History, Writing Sems.

Thank you sozo91! I probably did not convey it properly. :/

Hopkins has traditionally had a solid Near Eastern Studies department as well.

It’s in very poor shape at the moment, but hopefully they will be able to make new hires soon.

As far as Classics goes, my cynical side says that a university usually boasts that it is the one of the oldest when it can’t boast it is one of the best.
