Besides the common app?

I'm going to be a senior next year and just wanted some clarification on the application process.

Besides doing the common application, we also need to do supplements for some colleges. Are these supplements done electronically as well? Or are those mailed?

What about letter of recommendations? Do my teachers send those electronically? How does that work?

What if I am also attempting to get letter of recommendations from people besides teachers, like a doctor I work with? How do those get sent in? Electronically or by mail?

Thanks to whomever answers my questions

The supplement is in a similar electronic form as the commonapp where you will either copy paste your essays into a box or upload a document. There will be a separate page for each school’s supplement.

Teachers will upload their letters to the commonapp server and you will have the choice of sending which teacher’s letters to which school. You will not be able to read the letters, however. You can select teacher A and teacher B to school 1 but submit Teacher B and Teacher C to school 2.

For both of these, you still have the option of submitting by paper. And you are also allowed to send some parts electronically and other parts by mail (some teachers/counselors submit their recs this way).

The “besides teachers” issue I am not sure about.

Supplemental LORs must be sent hard copy.

Be sure the people writing them include information such as: your full name that you use on your application, HS, DOB and student ID# if you have been given one by the college.
