Common Application supplements

Hello,

I have two very important questions:
1) If I already submitted my applications to some schools, but I want to apply to other schools also using the common application, what should I do? Do I just add schools and will the information I typed in for the earlier schools be the same? Or do I have to start all over for the new schools I am applying to? Adding on to this, if it is the same information that will be copied onto the new schools, are the recommendations I put in for the earlier schools be the same, or do I have to submit new ones?

2) Some of the colleges I already applied to said they will take in extra recommendations if I send it to their undergraduate admissions office. If these schools used the common application, would I have to download a new recommendation form to send it, or can I just send the letters by itself to their offices?

Sorry for the confusion but any help will be appreciated !!
Thanks :)

You can just add colleges to the “My Colleges” list and send the application to those schools.

Also, for the recommendation, just fill out the form again and give it to multiple teachers. Just download the individual form from the Common App’s forms page, fill out your info in the PDF document, and print off multiple copies to hand to all your recommenders. But you have to send the letter through your school, and you might want to contact the school to notify them that you have another piece of your application coming in.

ricksta,
the majority of the common app will be greyed out (you cant change it) when you apply to a new school . There may be a few new questions (not hard ones) the school wants answered as well. So go through every screen from top to bottom to see if there is anything new. Also, check if the school has a Supplemental section. That will be completely new and will need to be completed (the supp may also include more wonderful essays/short answers questions)
Good luck!

Is there any way to edit the “grey out” portion of the common application?
Thanks !
