The essay score is not factored into the composite.

My daughter has a difficult time staying motivated using only textbooks, so my I did some research and came across BenchPrep. It’s a company that provides ACT test prep on your computer and mobile devices. Kids these days are always on their phones and computers anyways so I figured I’d give this a shot. So far things are going great! My daughter loves the quiz questions and chat feature the best.

Anyone having a hard time deciding on the best test prep should definitely check this out.

When you guys say Barron’s is the best for math do you just mean the regular Barron’s ACT book, the Barron’s 36, or the math workbook?

Barrons and PR are the best, if you can get a 18 on a barrons practice test thats like a 28 on the actual thing

For anyone not keen on studying, CliffsNotes ACT Cram Plan is a great quickie.

I got a 30 on my ACT and I used Barron’s ACT 36, Barron’s Math & Science Workbook, McGraw Hill’s 10 Practice Tests, and Kaplan’s English Reading & Writing Book. What else can I do to boost my score to at least a 34???

Does anyone know about the REA (not real or red book) 6th ed. ACT guide. I used it and I remember I got an 18 the first time I did one of their reading sections. I ended up improving to like a 19 or 20 on the reading sections in that book. On the real ACT I took in Sept. I scored a 34 in reading. I told my tutor and she just laughed. Very good book for reading. Math is super confusing compared to the real ACT. Science almost mirrors the real ACT and is very helpful ( i scored 32 on the real thing.) English was more like SAT writing but maybe that helped my SAT score.

Whats the best prep book for reading and science??

I score about 28-30 on science and reading

Studying from the Red Book doesn’t necessarily help your chances of scoring highly on the real thing. I took all the practice tests from it within about 2 weeks prior to the real ACT, and felt really confident. However, I found the ACT on that particular test date (sept) was extremely harder than any of the practice tests I took. It could have just been chance, because I the ACTs in April and June were a lot easier, and I didn’t even study as hard for them as I did the September one.
