Best advice for being waitlisted?

Was waitlisted at Pepperdine and got some solid advice on the Pepperdine forums but one person told me that when her daughter was waitlisted, only 2 students were chosen off the waitlist that year, her daughter being one of them. At first I wasn't too upset about being waitlisted because I figured I still had a shot but I don't really feel like I do anymore. Is there anything else I can do besides send updated grades and express to them that they're my first choice? Thanks

If you have fresh, relevant info by all mean send to admission. I wouldn't plead how much the school is your dream...etc. They have heard it all and it is a consensus that it weighs negative on you if you go out on a limb to be so attach to a school you haven't even attended yet. Also it is at this time you should be reviewing your safeties or 2nd choices. Tell yourself they might be good choices after all. If you get off WL terrific if not going to XXXX will be good too.

Pepperdine is in the category of schools that will probably have more wait list movement this year because of the economy. So don't lose hope, especially if you don't need financial aid.

I've also read that this is a good time to get someone else to write a rec for you that didn't write one in the first round--maybe a Senior teacher or just someone who knows you well. Good luck and try to keep things in perspective!

thanks guys. im still waiting to hear from my second choice which will hopefully be this week.

anyone else? I know there are a few other posters who may need some advice; seems a lot of students were waitlisted this year

^like me with Harvey Mudd.
