Best airline & shuttle service questions

My D will be attending the summer intensive language program and we are trying to think ahead about flights, etc. She will be flying in and out of Kansas City. Does anyone have any experience as to which airline is the best to use and which airport you prefer to have as your connection?

Also, has anyone used any of the shuttle services out of Burlington that pick students up at Middlebury and take them to the Burlington Airport? Is there one you prefer? Are they reliable?

If you don't use the shuttle services, how do you get from Middlebury to Burlington to catch flights?

My daughter is a sophomore at Middlebury and will be doing a language program on campus this summer, too. I am not sure which airline you should use from Kansas--easiest way to see what the range is is to go to Kayak.com and type in a search from your city to Burlington (BTV). Burlington is about an hour north of Middlebury. Small and easy to use airport. We use Middlebury Transit (just google it) and they are very nice--will try to do ride share to keep the cost as low as possible. Try to schedule arrival and departure when other students might be coming in and then call Midd Transit. Vermont in summer is lovely.

re: not using shuttle service--there is some public transportation between Burlington and Middlebury, but it is very limited and I'm pretty sure you have to take a bus from the airport into Burlington and then change buses. You could google Addison County Vermont transportation or go to the Burlington airport site. My daughter has taken the bus to Burlington and then to Montreal...

Midd Transit is definitely the way to go. My D used it for four years plus a summer of language school and it was totally reliable. It can be pretty expensive if you travel alone (around $90 as I recall) but that probably won't be a problem if she is traveling at the beginning and end of the program. You can book it ahead of time and use a credit card so it's very convenient.
