swiss gear/wenger sell some excellent backpacks that also hold laptops. make sure that the backpack fits your laptop size (usually 15.4" or 17")

I highly recommend STM bags. In the US, you can obtain them from Radtech in Missouri.
I think Radtech still carries the STM drift model (didn’t see it still on the STM site). It a messenger-style bag perfect for a 13" Macbook. It comes with a sleeve. It’s very indestructible, will keep your MacBook safe. It’s not too big, but still has lots of pockets, and lots of room for books, charger, etc. It’s VERY well balanced to carry. It’s almost like it was designed with a Macbook in mind. It’s about $75, but sometimes Radtech has a special. Got one for my daughter and she loves it.

My Jansport has lasted for 4 years, and I use it every day to carry a TON. it only cost $40, too.

Targus makes great backpacks

@Cards4life - I have back and knee problems, thats why i was asking.

How about being sophosticated (or at least pretending like you are) and just get a Louis Vuitton messenger bag from 5th avenue? It’s only $1,000.00 plus tax.

i heard targus is good for messangers. i had the same jansport from 6th grade- 9th grade where is fell apart one day. however, i was one to carry my entire locker in my backpack. i’ve my northface hot shot since the middle of 9th grade (i just finished my 1st year of college) and it’s still in great shape, just a little faded on the botton. north faces are definitely well worth the money.

I’ve had a Jansport backpack since the 9th grade (I’m entering college this Aug), and it’s held up fine.

I got an Eddie Bauer one ages ago for around $35. It lasted 3-4 years, though eventually the zipper broke. I brought it with me when I went back to see if they had a similar style for sale, and the sales person told me I could return the broken one and get my money back at the lowest price they had sold it for. Turns out the lowest it ever went was $30, so I got a brand new backpack for $10 that’s been lasting me since around 2004.

Combo laptop/daypack–North Face Surge

[The North Face Surge Laptop Backpack - FREE SHIPPING at Altrec.com](<a href=“Altrec is Moving”>Altrec is Moving)

The cheapest that I’ve seen it is $99 plus free shipping on ebags.com I included the Altrec link because the original poster wanted something pinkish and Altrec has this North Face model in a cherry red (not quite pinkish but still looks nice).

^^ I just purchased that backpack last week (north face backpacks 25% off here) and I absolutely love it. I previously had the generic jansport that everyone has and trying to lug around more than one textbook and a laptop was pretty miserable with it. Many north face backpacks have this rigid spine feature that redistributes the weight more comfortably on your shoulders for heavy amounts.

For college students:
How necessary is a sturdy backpack? I’ve survived high school, never lugging anything more than a tote bag, and was going to try to do the same in college. Do you ever really need to carry much around?

I have an LL Bean SuperDeluxe from years ago, with my initials and all. Do people still carry those around?

ful

i’ve got one, its nice :D

I’ve seen a good number of backpacks similar to that one.

Really guys, just stick with what you have from HS and if it’s too much, get a smaller one online. If it’s too little, buy a new one the first week or two of classes and you’ll have it within a week.

Jansport makes wheeling backpacks. I have one, and I love it. I don’t mind looking like a dork, b/c my back doesn’t hurt.

I love my Northface Heckler. I’ve carried four texbooks, multiple notebooks and my macbook in it before and it didn’t even feel heavy. Northface has other models that are very high quality as well.

Swissgear and nothing else! Willing to sacrifice fashion for comfort on that one, best backpack I’ve ever owned and I’ve had some nice ones.

Buy A Swiss Gear Back pack. They cost a pretty penny but they are worth every penny!! Very Durable and sturdy!

theres a million of these threads

I’ve had the same Oakley backback for like five years, still looks and wears like new. I’m impressed by it’s build quality.

You’ll be different if you rock an Oakley, every kid runs a Northface. Be advised, Oakley backbacks do cost more - $65 vs $40.
