Which book do you guys think is best for SAT II US History - Kaplan, Barron, REA, or Princeton Review? I have heard negative comments for all of them and am unable to decide on which I should focus most of my time. Please help, high scorers on the test?

I used REA to study for the SAT and AP. Really nice, but hard to get general ideas. It's amazing for details though. Perhaps REA and a more general one (my friend's 5 Steps was good for this) as well. I don't know exactly how I did, bt I think I did well in both; REa did the job well. Good luck!

I used Kaplan and it worked really well.

Does anybody out there know any source that assists us in making preparation for the US His test ( besides Sparknotes ) ? I'm an inter student, so I have limited access to books you mentioned :(
I have another small question: For the SAT II US History, is it really necessary to learn the autobiography of important figures ( for example: of presidents...) ? Does the test ask us questions about the personal life of these figures ?

All suggestions are really appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

^^ No there aren't any questions on presidents' personal lives.

Does anyone know how accurate the Kaplan book is? Easier, harder, fairly accurate?

Kaplan book was much more difficult and detail-oriented for practice exams. I scored 700-750 on the practice tests. I think I did better on the real test but I hope I don't jinx myself by saying that. Anyways, Kaplan has really good review but I don't think the tests are that great. Sparknotes practice tests were easier but the curve was less generous. Check Collegeboard Practice Problems for a general idea of what it's like. It's a watered down version of the AP exam. Also, there were quite a few graphs and cartoons to interpret so learn to be efficient and fast with that.
