Hello. I see pretty old discussions on this topic. Does anyone have recent experience?
Based on experience and my results from the October SSAT, I recommend the Princeton Review book. The book has a large list of vocabulary that will probably show up on the Verbal section. They also have drills, exercises, and explanations for the answers. However, there might be some typos; I found quite a few in past Princeton Review books.
Thank you for this. Much appreciated.
Forget the books, use a website called “privateschoolexam.com”
Best purchase I ever made.
Better than books @LaxPrep?
The Official Guide sold by SSAT.org
Why did you like privateschoolexam.com??
There is an in depth explanation of every question rather than just an answer key. I would highly recommend making the investment. It improved my score exponentially from low 80’s to low 90’s in a few months
I can tell what the worst book is. Avoid one from company called Better-Writing Center. It freaked out my daughter because she got 20/50 correct on math sections. I was freaked out too, until reading the Amazon review.

@jwalche–ditto for my daughter on Better-Writing Center. AND the way the questions are written, it sets one up for thinking that you are supposed to be able to finish the quant sections in the allotted amount of time, when in reality one cannot due to the nature of the questions. PLUS, we found answer key errors!! Fortunately, we too went back to the Amazon reviews and I shared this with my daughter, so she is no longer freaked-out.
And to all of you who are taking the SSAT this weekend, Good Luck on it!!!
