Best Car Rental Place?

What is the best car rental place for a minivan?

you do know to rent a car that you must be 25

Yea, I was going to mention the age of 25 rule also, but this could be a parent.

If so, us under-25 yr old people wouldn't know anyway haha

apparently, you can still rent a car if you're under 25 at some places. just be prepared to pay a lot and plop down a huge deposit.

I've never tried, though. YMMV.

For Heaven's sake, kids.

You can rent a car if you are under 25 at some car rental companies. UHaul will also let you rent if you are over 18. Some of them will not let you rent luxury cars. Most of them charge $10/day. Most of them require that you be at least 21. I've never had to pay a deposit before, although they do let you know that you're on the hook for any accidents. You can purchase insurance to cover the rental if you desire, although it's a rip-off. You can also see if your insurance company covers rentals.

Go for Enterprise. They charge $10/day extra and do unlimited miles. They also have a cargo van that you can reserve in advance.

UHaul is very unreliable. Consider sharing 1/2 of a Penske truck with someone if you are looking to move a bunch of stuff.

I think that Enterprise, Thrifty, Dollar, and maybe Budget let you rent under 25. If I recall correctly, Hertz and Avis do not (not even for an additional fee).

MOST places let you rent when you are 21.. some even let you rent when you are 18. in PA anyway... I don't know if other states are different. I know you can at Enterprise.

Tips for car renting: Some credit cards have rental insurance on them, so if you put the car on that card you don't need to purchase it from the renter.. That can save you a ton of money.. I know both of my Visa cards do.. I'm not sure if that is on all Visa's or just Capital One's.

If you're going to be driving it a lot, ask them if they have an unlimited miles option... I rented cars each year for four years in a row during college to drive from PA to FL and without the unlimited miles it would of cost us a TON.

And make sure you check and see if your insurance covers rental cars.

Enterprise usually is great. I've rented a utility van through them before for my moves between apartments when I've had a relatively small amount of stuff. They also do minivans of course, but know the option to rent a utility van without back seats is also possible.

I have to second Penske if you have a larger amount of things (i.e. lots of furniture). They are cheaper and more reliable than Uhaul and they not only give a discount for booking online, they also honor the AAA discount. I'm actually moving with a Penske truck at the end of the month, but we are moving two peoples stuff and furniture we've accumulated over the past few years.

If your car was crashed into most places will rent to you through insurance, if you are 18 or over. I had to do that when my car was rear ended and it wasn't a problem.

Yes, I'm aware of the age limit. Which is why my parent will be driving the vehicle. All I need is a good company to rent from that WON"T make us return the vehicle to the same pick-up location.
