Best Cell Phone Carrier for Campus (Verizon vs ?)

Has anyone here been using a Verizon cell phone on the Bowdoin campus? Verizon gets bad reports (reception, dropped calls, no service) for connection quality in Brunswick and I’m hoping it’s not the case (or they’ve improved service since those reports from last year) because my Verizon contract isn’t up until February. AT&T is so much more expensive (at least with the purchase of an iPhone it would be, haha) I’d like to know if it’s an issue or if one carrier is better than others on the campus.

bump. i would really like to know this as well. i heard they have an AT&T tower on campus, so clearly that will have good reception, but i have verizon and just want to know if it works fine…

from a mom, just to put your minds at ease, Verizon does work fine at Bowdoin, except in many of the first-year dorms, where you may get a few bars only on the top floor or right near windows on lower floors. Something about the green construction, I think - it’s not just at Bowdoin, either. I think only ATT works in those dorms - but in the majority of the buildings, and all of outside, Verizon is fine.
Additionally, Bowdoin will give you a phone number that is just yours (even your roommate has a different number, even though they ring on the same phone) and it is yours for all four years. So if someone can’t get you while you’re in your room, they can just call your room phone. having Verizon didn’t hurt communication on our family at all - and I think not being able to call high school friends from the room improved communication with room- and dorm mates! so, no need to switch plans!
