Best Cell Phone Provider for Rutgers NB

Do you know anyone who gets great reception at Rutgers in and out of the dorms?

1/2. verizon/att

1,000,000) t-mobile

Verizon. The worst one is T-mobile. I had friends with At&T. You might get a signal in some dorms. Its better to get Verizon. If you don’t get a signal with Verizon, you are not going to get a signal with anything else.

I’ve had both Verizon and AT&T. AT&T was the best for me, I had signal everywhere. Verizon is a close second, only time I didn’t get signal was in certain areas of the dorm depending on where I put my phone. T-mobile is the worst from what I’ve seen.

Great and I have t-mobil - Does the phone itself matter at all? Do you mostly text, phone, or web? Is it necessary to be able email from your phone?

texting and making calls are must haves. otherwise everything else is not worth it (imo)

I have T-Mobile. Is there a particular campus or area in which T-Mobile is bad, or is it the whole New Brunswick campus that’s bad?

I just did orientation on College Ave and phone was mostly fine then I went to Cook Campus and it was even more bars.

interesting, findmepete. were you mostly outdoors or indoors? because i got some pretty shotty reception in my dorm (I have AT&T). I mostly have to talk outdoors or wander around for some reasonable reception. maybe that’s just my reeeally old dorm, though. and having email on your phone is not very necessary since wireless is pretty ubiquitous, and there are computer labs all over the place. I have a pretty basic phone, and I usually text or make calls, and it works out fine.

I text more than talk and have a Nokia phone if that matters. I will be living on College Ave so I am most concerned about that area.

T-Mobile is just REALLY bad on busch. Everywhere else it isn’t bad actually … I have almost never gotten more than 3 bars on busch, and in dorms, you may as well have no phone

What about for Sprint? That’s what I have now and while I despise Verizon, I’d probably go for AT&T if it’s that good. I’ve gotten really good service with Sprint, surprisingly enough…

I had great service with Verizon and AT&T!
Right now I have AT&T and I usually have full service/3g all over New Brunswick/Piscataway.

Verizon has been 100% reliable for me at Rutgers…

Now I have to go beg my parents to switch to Verizon or AT&T, something I wanted to do for a long time cause T-mobile gets signal nowhere. When I was at Rutgers for orientation, I didn’t get any signal in the dining hall & like one bar in the Frelinghuysen dorms.

It honestly depends on location by experience i can tell u no provider is perfect at this school. My dorm building my freshmen year(Davidson) got literally no Verizon service unless i stood next to the window and pointed my phone out the window, and waited like a whole minute just for my text to get sent. It got really irritating. I kno AT&T had better service in Busch, but at times didnt work so well. T-Mobile everyone knows is just crap and lacks radio tower infastructure in the Northeast. Especially in city locations or underground like in basements. But best option i’d go with is AT&T, but u can manage with Verizon too
