what's the best from campus?

I would recommend verizon; they have a stronger network and I've known from experience that Cingular is kinda bad in jersey but that may be different now that they merged with AT&T. (AT&T is what I have and it works beautifully on campus)

what are cingular and verizon? Mobile phone networks?

apparently on campus only cingular (2-3 bar service) and t-mobile (5 bar service) get service, but off campus cingular and t-mobile dont get service and sprint and verizon work well. =P

Sprint sucks in Jersey. Esp. Middle and South Jersey. Let's put it this way. Rutgers is kind of near, and Sprint has ABSOLUTELY no reception there. DON'T GET SPRINT. TMobile and Verizon both work very well. In general, TMobile works the best in Middle Jersey, but you can't get reception inside certain buildings (i.e., malls...or maybe I just had a crappy phone at the time).

Cingular is ok. I know some people who like it, but I would either go with TMobile for the price, or Verizon for the service.

thanks, i have verizon now and i have a friend at princeton who said he has to walk outside of his dorm to make phone calls (he has verizon too). my contract is up soon and i'm debating on whether to renew

Yeah. T-Mobile is apparently the best deal.

t-mobile is very good for princeton. when i was up there a few weeks ago, even inside buildings, i had 5 bars. also, ive heard that most students at pton use t-mobile and t-mobile to t-mobile is free! WHOO! haha

I can corroborate dvd's comment about Verizon. It gets very cold in the winter when you have to stand outside to talk on the phone. ;)

um i was up and Sprint worked perfect....

No! T-mobile sucks in jersey. (Maybe not on campus, but the rest of jersey and new york) I used to have T-mobile and I couldn't get service in my room.

t-mobile is best on campus =P, but yes, it sucks in the rest of jersey (0 service kinda depressing actually) but on campus everywhere it gets 5 bars, which is kinda interesting

anyone have any more info on cingular's reception at princeton?

Nobody wants to talk about AT&T? Works for me...

hmmm. I'm getting on my mom's plan with t-mobile, which seems to be the thing for campus. Good thing I don't plan on spending too much time in other parts of joisey ;) (or at least not where I'll need to be using a cell)

How is verizon on campus? Is it worth the price for the service you're getting?

I guess you don't plan on spending that much time in New York either, Phil :p

I think verizon works well everywhere...

I have Verizon, and I live around Philadelphia, and its coverage is amazing.

cingular (mine was at&t until the merge) worked very well everywhere on campus except down by fine/jadwin. i could call from inside any other dorm/building without any problem. my roommates had verizon and had to walk outside to get service, which was disappointing for them cuz there's a verizon store on nassau st. also, there is a cingular corporate store in one of the strip malls along rt 1 near campus.

are cell companies working on improving their reception or is it a permanent issue that won't be changed any time soon?
