Best cell phone provider

So I put down my deposit at Pomona last week, and now I'm starting to think about the logistics of college life. **Which cell phone company provides the best coverage at Pomona, both indoors in dorms and academic buildings and outdoors?/b Thanks!

not cingular. it's pretty crappy in most places on campus. That said, i will be using cingular next year 'cause my mum is too lazy to change our plan. Verizon worked well from what I could tell.

Verizon works the best by far. It gets good reception almost everywhere on campus

I second the NOT CINGULAR. I have Cingular and I can not receive ANY calls in my room (Lyon has concrete walls, but a beautiful dorm nonetheless!). I'm switching to Verizon soon after this stupid contract is up with Cingular.

Verizon hands down. I'm switching when I get back to campus.

T-Mobile also works well except in dorms that are built like bunkers (like Wig).

Last year, T-Mobile didn't work very well for my sponsees in Mudd-Blaisdell either.

For those of you who have Verizon at Pomona but are from other areas of the country, what sort of plan do you have? I tried to make sense of their plans on the website and got nowhere.

yea, get verizon....all my family has verizon, so bc of the in-network calling it's unlimited nationwide long distance to anybody else w/ verizon. it doesn't really matter what plan your friends at pomona have bc honestly most of the time you call them is gonna be nights or weekends, or you could just walk to their room since it;s a small campus

I'm still trying to figure out the cell phone issue for my son. It sounds like he will be able to use a land line in his room, so even if T-mobile does not work in his dorm, we could still reach him there and if he needed to call long distance from his room, he could use a phone card. Does this sound right?

My question is, are there places on campus where T-mobile does work, or is it worthless throughout Pomona? Unfortunately, though I would love to switch to Verizon, it does not work at my house, and we use our cell instead of our land line for long distance calls.

Thanks!

T-Mobile works well on all of the campuses, as far as I can tell. I believe that all rooms have landlines (if you purchase a phone) and phone cards work great.
