Best chances for UCLA or Berkeley?

Berkeley rejected me, but I am offered admission to NYU, Binghamton, and UC Santa Cruz.

California is the dream, but stupid me only applied for Berkeley on my UC app. Santa Cruz e-mailed me later saying they see my interest in UCs and offered me a spot.

Should I play it safe and go to Santa Cruz, where at least I'll be in California?
Is there a better chance to transfer into UCLA or Berkeley if I attend NYU or Bing my first year? If so, which school?

Thank you guys :]

We specialize in community-college-to-UC transferring.

If UCLA or Cal is your ultimate goal, attending a California Community College will give you the best odds (30% acceptance rate). If you attempt an intercampus transfer from UCSC to UCLA or Cal, you’ll be looking at around a 20% acceptance rate. If you attempt to transfer from an out of state school like NYU, you’ll be looking at less than a 10% acceptance rate.

Guess it all depends on how badly you want UCLA/Cal

Is it not too late to apply for a CCC?
And oh wow, I didn’t know out of state transfers would be so hard. I’ve researched and found that UC to UC transfers are the hardest, or is that wrong?

DON’T OUT OF STATE TRANSFER. it’s what I’m doing now and it’s horrible. Literally figuring out how to do it could’ve been a 3-4 unit class for me. That’s how much work it took. As of right now I’m in at Davis and San Diego but honestly it was close to impossible: 22 units both semesters + ecs + good grades + anxiety of being 3000 miles away + figuring out how to transfer = disaster. Go to ccc

No, UC to UC transfers are second priority, behind CCC transfers but before other 4 year universities. I am actually a UC intercampus transfer from UCSB to UCLA, haha
