I just had a quick question about clubs. I'm still a freshman, so I'm trying to find a couple clubs that I want to dedicate a lot of my time in. Because of time conflicts, I have to choose between Science club and newspaper. I really want to go into medicine for my career and can see how helpful science club would be, but I still love writing and want to do newspaper as well. Any advice?

It makes no difference…colleges don’t really care what you do as long as you show commitment and leadership.

@halcyon heather put it perfectly. As long as it shows some sort of academic / volunteer interest and you stay committed, either would look just as good.

I’d go with science club but that’s just me.

Choose whichever one you would dedicate the most time to. Like others said already, colleges don’t necessarily care about what you do so much as they care about how you make an impact.

Ur fav= best club

Remember this equation or else u have no life.

Don’t be drone for the honor

Do ur best in ur favorite club and it doesn’t matter what club it is

I’m biased when I say newspaper.

Objectively, I think the science club at my school doesn’t do a ton of stuff with medicine really, so it might not be as helpful as you think; regardless, science club isn’t going to make or break your college application, especially for something like Pre-Med, and not even actual med school.

Being on the newspaper staff gives you a whole different perspective of school than you have as a normal student, which is just one of the many reasons I love working for the newspaper.

I need to decide between Key Club and Mock trial. I need to survey which friends are in each club, etc. but as of now I think I’ll do key club. I already do debate.

Thanks for all the replies! Also, LetsGoOnCC what event are you doing for debate? I’m doing Lincoln Douglas :D
