DePaul's a pretty good school. For communications though, I would look at Emerson. My good friend might possibly go there. It's a really good arts school (Jay Leno went there).

Flagler has a great campus and the whole St. Augustine area is very nice.. although the town seemed really dead when I was there in the evenings.. everything closes at like six.... but the beaches are nearby.. the students seemed very nice though.. don't know anything about the academics..

Goucher, from what I know, is big on studying abroad and things like that... so that might be a good place to go if you're interested in that...

I don't know much about the others at all..

Based on what I have heard/read/understood/looked up about these schools, I would rank them like this:

Goucher (may be a bit biased since I applied here, but I do think it is probably the best of the bunch.)

Emerson (close second, possibly a tie for first)

Fordham

DePaul

Flagler

However, instead of relying on rankings, I would encourage you to get a better idea of what you want in a college. Your schools range in size from about 1300 to over 14,000; from very conservative/religious to quite liberal. Some are commuter schools and others are residential campuses. Which of these things appeal to you? You may find yourself very unhappy over the next four years if you attempt to pick your college based on how some random cyber-people feel they stack up against each other.

DePaul is excellent -- if you want to major in theater or music. Other than that, it is your run-of-the-mill school. Don't go to DePaul if you plan on majoring in anything else, IMHO.

thanks everyone :), good info
yes I got into Goucher Early Action, waiting to here back about global citizens scholarship... hope you get in RD!! good luck

I want to study journalism/communications, i am interested in magazine journalism more specifically but not many colleges offer that. I also am interested in study abroad/international/cultural studies (which seem greattt at goucher). It seems really hard to decide big school, medium, or small. I wish they all had weather like at Flagler!

I'm a journalism major and my issue with Emerson is that while it's a fabulous school for communications/journalism/theater, it hardly offers much else. I know it has some classes but they're not focused towards a major so much. If you know that's what you want to do, great. But I think there's only so much you can learn about writing and layout. My school only has 13 requirements for the journalism major, as well as a requirement that you take a certain amount of 300 level classes outside of the major. I don't know that much about Emerson, but when I was looking at it, that was my reaction. I could be totally off-base; I'm not saying don't go there, but maybe look more into this before you decide.

yea, eireann, I was actually thinking about that today- although emerson seems like a great school, I don't think its right for me. I definitely want to explore more that just journalism and communications throught my college career.
I've visited all the campuses except for Flagler... which I REALLY want to go see, but I can't afford it/ don't have time right now :(

Goucher and Flagler are probably my top choices as of today. I love the study abroad/international aspect of Goucher... and the idea of a warm, sunny, beautiful campus (Flagler) is REALLY appealing to me right now as its under 30 degrees here in New England!! Flagler also seems like it has great progams for me (both communications and intenational studies, although no languages other than spanish :( ) Fordham is up there on my list too. Guess I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope to get into flagler and fordham, since I'm already into Goucher.

I without a doubt would rate Fordham as the best out of that list. Its schools are good overall and it has the best graduate programs of the five. The name is well known in NYC and nationally.

Holistically, Fordham is the best college on that list.

But, if you are looking into communications and want to be respected in the industry, Emerson is by far the best school on your list.

DePaul is nice but is struggling a little in reputation now. It's very much overshadowed by all the amazing schools near it, especially the art and theatre schools (SAIC, Roosevelt, CCC).
