"I want to find the best colleges for vocal/classical music."

Maybe from this list:
List of colleges and university schools of music in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Head on over to the Music Majors forum and you will get a wealth of information and helpful people.
[Music Major - College Confidential](Music Major - College Confidential Forums)

My opinion for vocal - Cincinnati, Eastman, Juilliard, Boston Conservatory, Peabody, Curtis

More general classical - add Oberlin

The music forum is the best place to ask about this.

You mention “college”, but you want to figure out if your child wants college, conservatory or both. That means a choice between a BA or BM, or a combination of the two.

Erin’s Dad listed conservatories. (I would add New England Conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, McGill, and Westminster Choir College.)

[Double Degrees | Peabody Conservatory](http://www.peabody.jhu.edu/conservatory/admissions/tips/doubledegree.html)

I like a book entitled “Creative Colleges,” which I bought online. It has a list of all good music programs in colleges and conservatories in the US.

Vocal performance study involves special concerns best answered by those who have been there, on the music forum. Just go to “discussion home” and click on “music major” under “majors.”

I would also add SUNY Purchase to the group.
