Thought this would be a good idea for a thread, particularly because these are the schools that I'm interested in.

Anyone know of any schools like this?

Based on what I've heard of, schools that fit in this category seem to be schools like UMich, USC, UCLA, UNC, UVA, and UC Berkeley. Are there any others that can be considered very prestigious universities where people don't study 24/7?

(No offense to Harvard. Students there have a fairly good mix of academics and fun, but as a great example of the typical college experience…hmm. For one thing, it lacks the major sports presence that nearly all of the OP’s schools have.)

I dont really think of stanford and williams as party schools.
I know williams is a heavy drinking school, but i wouldnt classify that as partying

When a significant proportion of the student body at an institution takes performance-enhancing drugs to juggle a rigorous academic schedule and heavy extracurricular involvement, one is hard-pressed to suggest that the institution in question offers what we normally think of as the typical and satisfying college experience.

Really? I didn’t know HGH and anabolic steroids were the new crazes at colleges. :)

Anyhow, one’s gotta be Vanderbilt for sure; every other top school’s females pale in comparison or so I’ve been told (no offense, ladies at other top schools), and as it often is, the hotter the ladies, the better the social scene.
