Is anyone aware of rankings of communications programs in the larger Northeast universities? I understand NYU's is quite good, but have found no source for reputation or rankings (for whatever they may be worth). Thanks for any input.

Boston University
Syracuse Newhouse School of Communications
NYU, but not sure which school; some people have said Galletin, but I'm not educated about that.

There are not really official rankings for these programs, but many use job placement % to assess; others use alumni connections, etc......faculty experience in the field......

At NYU it's the Steinhardt School that houses the communications program.

The National Communication Association has information on communication programs nationwide on its website, The National Communication Association, promoting scholarship and education since 1914.

The University of Pennsylvania's Annenberg School of Communications is awesome and offers academic programs for students in Penn's College of Arts & Sciences.

^^ilovebagels: when my D went through this process last year, she was told by many in the industry that while UPenn would be a great program, it was primarily geared toward those who were more interested in the research side of communications; in other words, those who were eventually going to get PhD's.....

Syracuse has without a doubt the best communications program in the northeast and is top 3 in the nation.

Cuse-can you post the rest of the list that has syracuse as number 3?

Daleebra,

There is no “list” that I am aware of, just a general consensus among those familiar with communications programs that the top three communications schools tend to be Mizzou, Northwestern, and Syracuse. There are other schools that have great programs as well, but the three I listed always seem to be the first three mentioned by people when it comes to communications.

Ohio University and American also have good programs.
