Best country to live in?

Before you consider leaving the US, try Alaska. It’s the best state in the union and the people up here are very friendly.

As for countries, I’d choose Canada, Sweden, Britain, or Norway. They’re all awesome countries.

Canadians are a strange bunch of people.

Haha, I recently moved to Canada (ok, not Ontario or a well known province) and I can tell you, (someone who moved from NY) that it’s freezing, you have to wait in line at hospitals, prices are practically double of what I was used into NY, long commute times, etc.

I would personally be happy in a quiet town/city, living in the suburbs and working at a reputable university nearby. I don’t really think the country matters much to me, as long as the amenities that I deem important are present and people are nice :).

A place with people who share your beliefs.

NORWAY. I don’t know why but I have a strange obsession with going there.

@voberaptor
You are clearly disillusioned. Most of Europe is as modern (if not more so) as the US. Sure, there are a few odd spots that are still stuck in the last century, but there are in the US too.
And, just out of interest, why Frankfurt? Surely London, Paris or Berlin would be much more modern, by anyones standards

@ecouter11 ‘you have to wait in line at hospitals’ How strange life must be for those who aren’t filled with dread at the thought of waiting for hours at a+e. Oh the joys of the NHS…

Lol, well, I’m aware that it’s worse and equally bad in other countries. I just wanted to point out to people that Canada isn’t the paradise that people think it is…

Fair enough
My mums actually threatened not to take me to hospital on a friday night before. But given the choice, I wold choose to keep the NHS anyday, equality!

Vancouver! Great weather, diverse cuisine, mountains and ocean, friendly people…what more can you ask for? xD

People in other countries are far more class-conscious. It’s suffocating. I prefer American elitism: it’s based on the Puritan ethic, which in my opinion is absolutely awesome.

America. There is no better place than America. Seriously, where else can you find so many different nationalities and cultures? Where else can you come from nothing, get an education, and then make a good living? I’ve been to a lot of different countries and the more I leave America, the more I love it.

But I suppose if I had to pick it’d be Nova Scotia, Canada. It’s beautiful.

I always find ways to criticize the US but it’s pretty much perfect. Though I would totally move to Japan.

Just so you know, moving to other countries is hard! You think America’s immigration issues are bad? European countries have much worse ones. Norway, Sweden, etc know that they are desirable and they don’t want people coming in and stealing their jobs just like everyone other country in the world! Not to mention the price of living is much higher, especially in countries like Switzerland.

Umm no idc about what other people believe.

Japan would be a horrible place to live for any long period of time. Japanese culture is fascinating specifically because of how neurotic it makes people about class, about societal position, about being normal and polite and, above all, deferent.

Yeah not trying to be racist but I don’t think I could make it in any asain culture.

Not many people could. The Japanese culture is incredibly xenophobic.

The countries I would want to live in are: Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany. Some that haven’t been mentioned are the Caribbean and Bermuda. I go to a private school, and I know, lots of rich people there.

For those of you who think America is “so great”, all I have to say is try looking into the news. Rick Santorum is front runner in the GOP race, trying to basically get rid of gay rights, porn, contraceptives, birth control. The government keeps introducing bills to get rid of internet privacy, PIPA, SOPA, ACTA. Our economy is awful, I pay for social security taxes, but by the time I’m old enough for social security the baby boomers will have used it all up. There is a continuous stalemate between Republicans and Democrats, so we’re basically stuck in this awful position. Our country is full of idiots, 50% don’t even believe in evolution…

sorry for my rant

Oh, if you want to try living in Asia then Singapore is a good choice. People there speak English, many cultures like Chinese, Indians, Malays and there are some Caucasians too. And super clean and good food :D

I always think of moving to London or Canada, because there’s a lot of other Sikhs there, and people are a lot more tolerant, (more so in Canada than England), and like another person said, important to go somewhere where people share your beliefs
