SLO is a bargain for the thrifty who still demands quality...had no idea they are more selective than UCSD which is an amazing university. as a result the pomona campus gets a lot of applications by association even though it's far inferior other than in certain pockets like arch and engr.

Is Cal Poly SLO a good school for Business considering internship opportunities and overall reputation?

Stanislaus is the best CSU

SLO is one of the better b-schools in the CSU. The best ones are at san diego, fullerton, san jose and long beach. the major issue with san luis is that few employers are around the central coast so that campus does not have as much daily contact with employers as do the urban campuses mentioned.

pierre, what kind of weed are you on? scott peterson state teachers college? most people even in the state never have heard of that campus. turlock anyone?

so for business with emphasis in accounting i should go to fullerton, long beach, sdsu or sjsu. can i get into fullerton or long beach with a 3.21 gpa and a 25 ACT?they are the cheapest schools ever!!!! 4 yrs math 1 ap, 4yrs spanish 2ap/honors, 3yrs history, 4 years english, 3yrs science 1 ap, 4yrs art(photo, archdesign, choir). im from norcal Acalanes school district.

satcc you should be able to go in, my stat is similar to your and got admitted on friday

I got in!!!!!!!! :) pre business

satcc -- which one, Fullerton or Long Beach?

Fullerton. i think we hear from LB in february or later i think.

Hi,

Any opinions about CSUEB?

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo & Cal Poly Pomona

east bay has been up and down. strong focus on international business. middle of the pack in the system, san jose much stronger.

on fullerton, they just moved into an 80 million dollar building that is awesome. pomona was supposed to start its new building this winter but got caught up in the state budget crisis, a tough break. but they have a new dean coming in from vegas who is supposed to turn things around there.

Cal Poly SLO and SDSU are both very good but different schools.
1. Cal Poly-smaller, upside down cirriculum where you start working on major immediately,
admitted directly into major so you need to know what it is you want to do. Small
town, etc. Not as many academic choices but very good, esp. business, enigineering,
and architecture. Cal Poly I believe still requires and senior project, someone can
correct me if I'm wrong, just to name a few things.
2. SDSU-large school, many major choices, many majors are pre-major admits and a
certain gpa is required to get into major. Many unique majors. Urban-it's San Diego,
great weather. Great business program, Liberal Studies, Poly Sci, biology (works in
conjunction with UCSD), good reasearch and internships just to name a few things.
Both have a good community feel although SDSU does have a lot of communters due to accessibilty and grad programs. LB and Fullerton are also pretty good, very big and mostly commuter school. Fullerton is the easiest of the four, then LB to get into although I know many kids who did not get into LB over the last couple of years.

-Both Cal Poly
-CSU LB
-SD State

yeah, pretty much, they're the ones that get most applicants and are most selective.

what's the best CSU for history and political science majors?
which CSU generally has the most intellectual atmosphere as well?
thanks...

that's a very difficult question as it would require someone to know all 23 campuses well.
frankly, i doubt any would be considered an intellectual campus given the CSU mission. remember, these are not Research One institutions. that said, i'd lean toward SLO, chico and san jose being very slightly moreso.

as to specific disciplines you mention i'd go with a campus strong in the liberal arts such as san jose or san diego or even san francisco.

I personally think the best CSU is CSU Long Beach! I loveeee that school! It was my first choice until I got rejected >.<

is CSULB good for linguistics??? I really like this school and i was just wondering… If not, which CSU would be better for linguistics?

oh, and overall, is CSULB a good school??? I haven’t too much talk about it; mainly the polytechs.

CSUs are designed to be cheap commuter schools, I don’t see why you’d go to one looking for an “intellectual experience”.

"CSUs are designed to be cheap commuter schools, I don’t see why you’d go to one looking for an “intellectual experience”.

Probably because people of intellect can have an intellectual experience wherever they go and don’t need to have their choices validated by others.
