I was wondering what are the best CSU’s for an entrepreneur? Or what colleges have the best programs
Most of them have pretty good business programs. The ‘best’ would probably be SLO - but it is very selective and somewhat isolated from the start up world. After that, i’d look at the business climate surrounding the schools and choose depending on the type company you plan to found, That will surround you with the best opportunity to meet people in your chosen field, score an internship, etc. SJSU or SFSU for tech, SDSU for bio-tech. Ag related, look to Fresno, Chico or perhaps Pomona - wine biz, Sonoma State, If you want to go into the pot business Humboldt would be ideal. (that is unfair but, I couldn’t resist).
Thank you So Much! This was very helpful!
@NitikS - I don’t know much about the other CSUs in this area, but here is something about SDSU’s entrepreneurship rankings from September, 2015 - http://newscenter.sdsu.edu/sdsu_newscenter/news_story.aspx?sid=75776
Also, some details about SDSU’s Lavin Center for Entrepreneurship - http://lavincenter.sdsu.edu/
Disclaimer about the above ranking: the other CSUs aren’t in the same US News & Report ranking category as SDSU. SDSU is ranked as a “national” university while the others are ranked as “regional (west)” ones, so the other CSUs wouldn’t be listed in this ranking system with SDSU. Some may be equally as strong, or even more so, but they won’t be found in the same poll. Much of this has to do with the rules/regulations of the CSU system.
As per US News & Report, "Schools in the National Universities category, such as Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania, offer a full range of undergraduate majors, plus master’s and doctoral programs. These colleges also are committed to producing groundbreaking research; and “Regional Universities offer a full range of undergraduate programs and some master’s programs but few doctoral programs. Regional Universities include Providence College, Santa Clara University, Elon University and Butler University.”
