best CUNY college for a very liberal, open minded person?

I am majoring in philosophy and trying to transfer to a NY college next year. The CUNY schools seem the cheapest. My dream school was Wesleyan because it seems like the perfect fit for me but I cannot afford it. Which CUNY school has the most liberal, open minded people?
I hate the thought of going to a public university because the classes are much larger but I have no choice right now.

Why not go to a school with students who expresse a diverse range of political views and engage in vigorous debate about them. You might convert someone! Or you might change or temper your own views? Or perhaps are you under the impression that studying philosophy means nothing more than getting unchallenged confirmation of your preconceived ideas?

annasdad is right, although most colleges in general are abundant with liberals.

neither of you were helpful. If you don’t have the answer then why bother?

I was actually going to say that to annasdad, but I didn’t want to start an argument :P

Hunter–Upper East Side Manhattan, 'nuff said.

Queens is for recent immigrants and first-generation Americans, who have more pressing concerns than waxing philosophic–Asian and Hispanic.

Baruch has a substantial Jewish population, and Jewish pop culture portrays Jews as excessively liberal and outrageously progressive, but most of the Jews at Baruch come from traditional, conservative [immigrant] families.

City is just a mess. Used to be “the poor man’s Harvard,” but affirmative action toppled it in just four decades.

Brooklyn, think Queens–Black and Hispanic.

All of these schools have monumental histories, outstanding alumni, and exceptional programs of their own. Moreover, they reflect New York City’s unique cultural and socioeconomic diversity. But, poor minorities/immigrants tend to be more traditional–it would be wrong to say “close-minded.” Ultimately, Hunter should be your CUNY of choice, considering its location and the mystique and culture that this location generates.

Why bother?

Because you need to hear it.
