Best dorm speakers?

Im looking for some good speakers for my laptop, mostly for listening to music (so bass is important?), but also watching videos and gaming?. Im not sure how much I am willing to spend but definitely under $100.

you guys usually have good recommendations?

Get really good headphones.

Pro-tip: Most people don’t want you to blast your music whether it’s the middle of the day or not.

what about the Bose speakers or noise cancelling headphones?

My speakers already got me in trouble with housing 2 times this semester. Just a pair of Logitech 5.1 speakers. I forget how much they were, in between $100-150. Really good though just can’t really use them to their potential at all in a dorm room.

Don’t buy Bose, SkullCandy, or those Dr. Dre headphone. Those headphone are overpriced and they are a gimmick. Get something like Sennheiser, Audiotechnica, and Grado headphones.

Thanks for the tips guys, but as stated in the title, I am looking for recommendations for some good speakers.

So far I think I’ve decided on 2.1 or 2.0. I’m considering the Bose companion II series II or some decent Logitech ones.

Logitechs are great.

no.

a list:
ATH-AD700, ATH-m50, koss pro dj100, meelectronics HT-21, creative aurvana live, alessandro ms1, maxell dhp-II, denon hp700

random <$100s there, full size and portable. all are considered to be among the best in value. you can research if you want
ideally, you should stretch your budget to $10 over 100 and get the ATH-M50 once the holiday prices go down, which studio monitoring headphones that are at the same time widely considered to be the best, or close to unbeatable in performance/price. it will sound better than $300 retail store ripoffs

This. My mom bought some for her TV that she never used. I brought them to the dorm expecting being able to play music loudly. Living with the RA, this was not meant to be. He doesn’t let us do ANYTHING with them. I got home and tried them on full, and you can feel the bass through the house.

It really sucks because there are some people across the hall who blast rap music all the time and I would like to blast electronic/party music.

Find some good headphones like Sennheiser or Sony

You’re probably better off, as everyone would hate you instead of them.

Those are all headphones.

god damn it

Don’t be a selfish ******. Use headphones.

you guys are assuming he will be blasting rap or something.

My roommate didn’t even bring headphones and that was the cause of like 70% of our arguments. You live with other people in a communal building, not in your own private residence. You don’t need super awesome speakers. Your neighbors don’t want to hear your music.

Did he even say he lives in a dorm?

I live in a dorm

I have never argued with my roommate.

I plan on using my speakers on friday-saturday when my RA doesn’t care.

I will use headphones the rest of the time.

now can I get some recommendations? lolz.

[Newegg.com - Logitech X-540 70 watts 5.1 Speakers](<a href=“Are you a human?”>Are you a human?)
Those are what I use. Really easy to hook up to a desktop or laptop. The matrix feature is really good since you can use 5.1 surround sound without a 5.1 sound card. But like I said earlier on, the bass gets pretty loud (you said you listen to party and house music right?) so try and keep the bass about halfway up unless you want to get complaints from the people below you.
