Best Dorms for Freshman?

Anybody have any advice on the best dorm rooms for freshman?

depends on what you want. it seems that whatever dorm you end up in, you think that one is the “best one”!

older daughter lived in Missions B, which is “down in the valley” and traditional dorm rooms, doubles, no sinks, good sized rooms and closets, 2 shared communal bathrooms per floor, single sex by floor (so one floor is male, another is female etc). there is a small cafe/store, gym and laundry area called “crossroads” right there, but you do have to walk up a large large flight of stairs to get up to campus for classes and main dining hall.

also right there is Missions A, which are all frosh, and are suite style.

up on campus is Maher, large coed dorm, and Camino and Founders which are older single sex dorms adjacent to each other.

I’m accepted at USD! trying to figure out the best dorm situation for me:
I really like the traditional dorm type- doubles with rooms down the hall. would prefer coed and want a place with a good social life. Missions B seems to be it? But i’m worried since it’s a farther walk (toured the school) there will be less hang out? perhaps Maher is better? any input?

Thanks for the input BayAreaCAMom! I think I may be leaning towards Missions A but I’m torn between that one and Maher! Thanks for your help!
