best dorms of Lawrence

I am a freshman this year at Lawrence University.I havent decided on my dorms yet.can anyone tell me what are the best dorms Of Lawrence?If you can mention each dorms with pros and cons,that would be really helpful.

One other thing.How is internet at Lawrence?

The freshman dorms are Colman, Kohler, Ormsby, Plantz, Sage, and Trever. Colman is closest to downtown Appleton but furthest away from the cafeteria. It has sinks in the room, which is nice. It is quiet (at least this year it was) and has several international students. Kohler is the substance-free dorm. It might be an all-girls dorm too. Not sure on that. They have sinks in the room also. Ormsby is a popular freshman dorm. I love the hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, and walk-in closets. It was my daughters first choice but she got placed in Colman, which she has liked. Plantz is popular with conservatory students because of its location. The bathrooms have just been updated. Sage has a reputation for being a “party dorm”. Have heard that it isn’t as clean as the other dorms. Trever is also a popular freshman dorm. It sounds like it is pretty social and the students that live there like it a lot.

Kohler is co-ed and the wi-fi is good everywhere except Plantz.

are the students provided broadband in halls or only wifi? how bad is internet at plantz?Plantz was my first choice.And how is the internet speed like?
@MOMINWIS

Only wifi in dorms. Residents of Plantz often are seen with their laptops outside their dorm. Daughter doesn’t think it’s a big deal to not have internet service in dorm because there are so many other places on campus to use it. As far as internet speed she said it takes a little time to hook up to wifi but once on, it’s pretty fast.@lincon01

Daughter lived in Sage one year; yes, there are loud parties, partially, I think, because it is so close to the frat houses. As for dirt, yes, that room would get so dirty and collect dust, and no matter what we/they tried to do to keep it dust-free, the dust piled up again very quickly. Also, no matter the dorm, be prepared for the insects that love to live in the river climate… as for wi fi, sometimes daughter had issues initially connecting to the LU network, but there are people there to help with issues. Students are very good at helping each other out with wi fi issues. LU did do a fantastic job with initial roommate placement freshman year. Congrats on choosing LU. A lot of parents (me included) often say, “I wish I had gone there.”

Most importantly for my daughter, which are air conditioned? :D

@shellybean‌ There are 2 dorms that are air conditioned: Hiett (upper classman suite style dorm) and Colman (new edition). Students who provide a doctor’s note for allergies and/or asthma will be assigned the new section of Colman which is only a year old.
