I really have no idea.. From what I've read on here I'll probably choose Unit 1 or 3, because I want a good social experience. But I don't know much else about them.

Yea I’m wondering this too … some rooms seemed nicer than others in the clips on the website, but it’d be cool to have some insight from a student!

locrow - why not unit 2? Identical to unit 1 just a block or so further from the edge of campus.

I have no idea!! haha like I really don’t know any details about the dorms, just from what I read on the other threads unit 1 and 3 seemed really popular. I think maybe unit 2 housed less freshmen?

unit 1 and unit 2 have more of the newly renovated dorms, unit 3 hasn’t exactly gotten a facelift. units 1 and 2 are the most popular, unit 3 less popular.

all the dorms hold about the same number of freshmen. the vast majority of students leave the dorms after freshman year b/c it’s cheaper to live in an apartment than it is to live in the dorms.

you should also take your major into account. if you are a science major, particularly chemistry or engineering, consider foothill, stern, or bowles b/c they’re MUCH closer to your classes. foothill also has bigger rooms than the units. Clark kerr has the biggest rooms by far, but clark kerr is also in an inconvenient location.

does anyone know which dorms would provide the best social life?

youre getting a social life no matter which unit you choose to live in. the people change every year anyways but you cant go wrong with any of the units

Units ftw!
But in terms of a social life, it depends on what you and your floormates make of it. Thankfully I lucked out this year with a pretty social floor in Unit 1… hopefully that’s the case next year.

What about poli- sci majors? And how is the food?
