Hi all. I'm kind of new here, so I'm not entirely sure if this is the right forum.

I'm going into 9th grade with 5 HS credits already (at my school its 23.5 to graduate), so I have a bit of a head start over the rest of the kids. I took a lot of HS courses in middle school.

I'm not really sure what I want to really focus on, but I was wondering what are the best ECs. Like ones that really demonstrate you really care.

I'm going to be a Canadian citizen, so international student, but I've lived in America for most of my life.

This probably means that I have to be around 10 X better, because the odds are already stacked against me, so I'm really trying to get everything right.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance :)

The best [normal] extracurriculars are the ones that allow for you to demonstrate some passion or skill, that at the same time can be quantified through awards and tangible achievements.

Think along the lines of all-state athletics, debate championships, and computer programming competitions.

Also, ultra-selective summer programs like TASP, Gov School, Boys State etc. are a great addition to any resume.

Do what YOU like to do and be GOOD at it.

^^ I agree. Try out a lot of things your freshman year to feel out what you like, what you’re interested in, and what you’re good at. Don’t participate in anything just because someone says you should, do it because you want to I encourage you to look for leadership positions in your activities as well. Don’t just sit in a club for four years but be active in it!!

Hope this helps !
