Best Essay Opening Lines from Stanford

I thought some of those were interesting, I especially liked the last one about Starbucks, I really think I could write a deep essay with that topic, and I would do it too, but I'm afraid that the college readers might see it and recognize it look down upon it.

Anyways, what are some opening/closing lines that you guys think are really good? doesn't matter if you wrote it or not

starbucks, spaghetti, bike were cute but the rest seemed boring to me. The topics were predictable
"9/11"- suffered, loves life, wants to help
"cancer can't defeat me" overcoming cancer, duh
"Good Grief" how charlie brown influenced me
"Ugandan..." summer volunteering/missionary trip that shows amazing altuism
"Indian- American" bicultural identity, finding yourself, then realizing you will always be both parts and that makes you unique...
and etc. I'm a little dissapointed to find Stanford AO were dazzled by these openers.

My favorite were the article author's spoof of Pride and Prejudice, Tale of Two Cities and "Call me Cardinal". THAT is good
