What boarding schools would you say have the best facilities?

I've never been or seen a school, but I'm applying and just from their websites, I'd say that Exeter has great facilities all-around, but NMH has a farm. That's a freakin' A+ in my book.

For swimming? Ballet? Crew? Music? Science? Studio Art? Lacrosse? Hockey? Theatre?

Such a general question....there is no one true answer. Depends on your own interests and what will matter to you.

I mean just overall facilities (dorms, academic buildings, athletic facilities, dining hall, etc.)

Nicest looking, most practical, biggest grounds, more familiar, or more impressive looking? Best is not a definite term.
Btw, are you still applying to schools? Sorry I only recently came back to the board after a long time away.

The "best" facilities may be very individualized...what are your interests? Blair Academy has a brand new state of the art athletic facility, football field, student center, and a top of the line performing arts building...the new girls dorm is also breathtaking - all adding to an already beautiful campus.

Fit is MUCH more important then just judging on facilities.

prettyckitty, I'm not applying to schools.

yay for fit, but facilities i'm guessing st paul's and andrews (DE, obviously. we don't really talk about the andrews in other places o_O) dorms are pretty good, or are improving, because of 100% boarding

just a guess :D

NMH's dining hall is gorgeous (great food as well); the grounds are expansive and picturesque. The have two brand new soccer fields as well as 8 other soccer fields....they are in the process of installing two turf fields as well. Their are plans afoot to build a new gymnasium and pool and fully enclose the ice hockey rink. The track is new as of ?2002 and is state of the art. The new arts center is slated to be completed later this year and is incredible. The entire infrastructure of the campus as well as all of the roads were upgraded over the summer.

St paul - science
Mercersburg - art, theater, etc
Thatcher - horses
etc
