I'm looking to purchase a French I textbook/workbook set to begin attempting to teach myself the language. I've taken Spanish for a very long time and am going to continue with it throughout school, but I have always hoped to learn French and would love to self-teach.

If you can provide me with the name/publisher of any textbook you found useful for beginning French, I would greatly appreciate it! Ideally, I would like a book that touches on pronunciation, as I won't have anyone around whom I can imitate.

Use rosetta stone. I don’t think any textbook covers on pronunciations. You need like recordings to listen to.

hey i took spanish for 3 years and started french in school. I really DIDN’T like ‘Discovering French, Nouveau! (Bleu 1).’ It was really disorganized to me. And I used the Avancemos series all throughout my spanish career. They come from the same company but the books are structured differently.

This book - [Amazon.com: Easy French Reader w/CD-ROM: A Three-Part Text for Beginning Students (Easy Reader Series) (9780071603423): R. Sales: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Easy-French-Reader-CD-ROM-Three-Part/dp/0071603425/) - was pretty nice, there’s a CD that reads out some of the stories too for pronunciation. I don’t think it mentions grammar, and some words aren’t in their glossary so I’d get something to help with those too, but since you already know Spanish, you should be fine with figuring out that stuff.
