I was accepted into EDI Stern for the class of 2022, and I was wondering which freshman dorms are the best ~~ I’ve heard Hayden Hall is amazing, but it’s not available on the housing app and when I search online, it seems to be only available to the nyu law students; did something change? The ones I can apply for are: Brittany, Founders, Lipton, Rubin, Third North, University, and Weinstein. Thanks so much!!!
Lipton Hall used to be Hayden. When they opened a new law school housing they named it Hayden and renamed the freshman dorm Lipton Hall. Which, honestly, I think is overrated. I lived in Brittany and I LOVED it, everyone I know who lived there loved it, and it seems to be the most underrated “hidden gem” by far. Also I’m pretty sure NYU Local has pretty good summaries of the dorms if you look it up

I am a freshman at NYU and I live in Brittany Hall. It’s definitely the most underrated dorm, as most of my friends who visit me admit that they had no idea how nice/comfortable the hall was until it was way too late to apply. I don’t recommend putting Lipton as your first choice, as it has historically been the most popular option; therefore you are much less likely to get it.
Lipton is the new name for Hayden Hall. It was recently renovated and has beautiful, clean rooms with nice views. It is on the immediate border of Washington Square Park and you will have either a view of the park or a view of the city skyline if you are lucky! It has the advantage of having a dining hall within the building, which is really nice when it’s raining or snowing. It is also less than a 5 minute walk from most of the class buildings. However, it’s also really popular as a first choice. If you want Lipton, you should consider applying for an explorations floor, which are themed floors which require answering a short essay question on your housing application.

My D live in Palladium freshmanyear, which she liked b/c it had a dining hall AND gym. The union square area was great too.
