Which do you guys think is the best freshman dorm?

Also, is Shippee for the honors freshman any good? I've noticed it has that nice sun-deck area, but that won't be much use in the winter. It also seems a bit isolated...

Yes, can a current student plz let us know which dorms are best for incoming students..Im definately attending uconn if i get accepted so i need to know all the info in advance. Thanks

Northwest is your best bet if you feel good being around all freshmen. Shipee isn't too great. Too far away. West is old, but it has a nice homely feel to it. Its kinda crappy but in a nice location but its all mixed with all ages. Except for the freshmen only building. North is kinda crappy. Towers is also good.

My cousin, who goes to UConn said that Towers are best quality-wise, but North/Northwest are best for location and meeting other freshmen. If you live in Northwest you have to do community service, though.

I'm a freshman in Shippee. Its really a pretty good dorm. Some rooms have their own private bathroom. It houses the honors freshman community, which is great because many of the people in the dorm are also in your classes, especially for any honors classes you may be in. The rooms are pretty standard size. The only problem I have is that it is kinda far from where I have most of my classes (Chem building, science buildings for the most part). But buses come every 5 min or so.

what dorms for freshman are alcohol free?

I believe this has already been asked, but for reference, all dorm rooms with occupants under 21 are “alcohol free.”
