I know this may have been posted before, but I am looking into a transfer after attending a Massachusetts public college/university for 2 years assuming I will be in good academic standing! So does anybody know the best Non-Ivy History Programs on the East Coast? Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

bump......

nothing? Noboday has a list?!

this might be because there's such a plethora of fantastic private schools in Mass...all I really know of is U Mass system... don't even know if they have history progs.

wait for someone to come around, I'm sure someone at CC will have some advice for you.

Williams College is supposed to be excellent in history, but transferring in there is very tough.

williams is private

Tufts? ten char.

Well..my daughter was accepted at William and Mary. We visited and I fell in love with the college. It's a public college in Virginia. Although my daughter chose to go elsewhere, I was convinced that it was a beautiful place to study history--next door to Williamsburg, VA! Many students study law and history there. Can be tough to get into, don't know about their transfers, etc. Good luck--just had to put in my 2 cents.

Glamorous, the OP went to a public school. I see nothing that says he/she wants to transfer to a public school.

jennsmom has a good point--some East Coast colleges are literally right in the middle of history. How about Gettysburg College?

I'll second Tufts

Your school's guidance counselor probably has a book with this info, but, here's the info from my printout, which is a year or so old. Oh, and these are part of the top 46 undergrad programs. good luck!

Too general a question. Are you interested in American, European, Latin American, African, Asian, African-American, ethnic, and so on. Some departments are better in these areas than others.

I'd like to focus on American History if that effects recommendations

I heard Fordham University has a great history program.
